Adventure and Why We Fear it.

Adventure is one of those things that people stray away from when they’re lazy or just want to conform. That should have never become acceptable in society. Life should be an adventure in itself and each person you meet or place you go is just one stop on your journey. When you begin to think of it that way, you begin to do more. To look outside and see nature for its beauty and its endless possibilities.

My favorite movie as of now is “Into the Wild” (yes, I plan on reading the book this summer when I’m not quite as busy). It came out a few years back and I’d just like to point out this quote from the book :

“So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more dangerous to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.” – Jon Krakauer

And seriously. If you’ve never seen the movie, give it a watch. Listen, look, and take it all in. And when you begin to understand Chris McCandless, you will begin your true adventure.
